A Shepherd’s Musings-Wk 16: God is Faithful

The Psalms are full of worship and praise of God for His faithfulness.  Can you give testimony of God’s faithfulness in your life?  In what ways has God been faithful to you?  As you think about it this week, I encourage you to make a list and look for divine appointments to tell others of His faithfulness. We need to be like the Psalmist who would not keep God’s faithfulness to himself:

I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation. As for you, O LORD, you will not restrain your mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me! (Psalm 40:10-11)

Allow me to prime the pump as you look deep into your life and heart in musing upon God’s faithfulness.  There are four New Testament passages that highlight different aspects to God’s faithfulness that should move you and me to greater heights of appreciation and worship of our awesome God:

I.     God is faithful in bringing us to Himself in salvation:

I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge– even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you– so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.  1 Corinthians 1:4-9

II.   God is faithful in providing help in times of temptation:

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.  1 Corinthians 10:13

III.   God is faithful in protecting us in times of satanic attack:

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.  2 Thessalonians 3:3

IV.       God is faithful in sustaining us in times of suffering:

Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.  1 Peter 4:16-19

Meditating on God’s faithfulness will help us to have a trusting attitude, peaceful spirit, and joyful heart whatever our circumstances.  To God be the glory!
