About

About this blog:

The purpose of this blog is to magnify the Lord!   When God was doing a great and marvelous work in the life of Mary the mother of Jesus,  she said, “My soul doth magnify the Lord” (Luke 1:46).  God has done some great things in my life as well; I want to magnify the Lord by sharing what He is teaching me.

When we think of magnification we often think of a magnifying glass– by this analogy we are not implying that God is small.  He is actually very great and immense.  However, He seems small and even non-existent to some. So we who know the Lord want to magnify Him to those who do not see Him.

We also think of magnification with a telescope– by this  analogy we are not implying that God is far away.  He is very near.  However, He seems far away to many. Again, we who know the Lord want to magnify the Lord to others so that they can see how very near He really is.

When I was a boy, I found a really cool use for magnifying glasses.  I would often take my grandfather’s large magnifying glass outside in the sun and use it to focus the rays of the sun on an object I wanted to burn or catch on fire.  It is my desire in this blog to gather the light of God’s truth from the pages of Scripture and focus it on the lives of others, so as to set them on fire for God.  That way we can glorify the Lord together as we behold our Creator God!

“I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.”
Psalm 69:30

About the blog header:

Speaking of magnification– The Hubble space telescope has taken some awesome photos of the glory of God’s creation in the heavens.  In the center of hs-1992-17-b-webgalaxy m51galaxy M51 is what some call an “X” while others call it a cross.  I suppose it depends on your presuppositions as to the origins of the universe. Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

Colossians 1:16-17, “For by him[Jesus Christ] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”
