Psalm 13 – How long?

icehowlongWM

One thing is clear in the Psalms; it is not wrong to question God in sincerity.   In Psalm 13 David ask God, “How long?”  4 times!

Do your trials and difficulties seem long as well?

1. Like David,  you can honestly question – vs.1-2

How long, O LORD?
Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I take counsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

2.  Like David, you can respectfully request – vs.3-4

Consider and answer me,
O LORD my God;
light up my eyes,
lest I sleep the sleep of death,
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

3.  Like David, you can confidently trust – vs.5-6

But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

The hard times of life are an opportunity to trust, rejoice, sing, and remember.

God is good!  All the time!
