At the beginning of last year, 2010, I wrote these words and find them just as true today as ever:
Dwelling upon the faithfulness of God should make a difference in our lives in the coming year. Only God knows what the year 2010 has in store for us. Will we trust Him and grow to be more like our Savior through whatever storms and calms God brings our way?
When we are faint-hearted and fearful, the remembrance of God’s faithfulness will bring peace as we pray and give thanks —especially in the difficult times of life (Philippians 4:4-9).
When we are discouraged and weighed down by sin, the remembrance of God’s faithfulness will surely refocus our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:1-3).
When we feel empty and cold in our relationship with God, the remembrance of God’s faithfulness will rekindle our passion for God (2 Timothy 2:13; 2 Thessalonians 3:3).
When we are blessed beyond measure, the remembrance of God’s faithfulness will keep us humble and full of thanksgiving (Isaiah 25:1).
When we are wondering how we can do what God has called us to do in our family, church, and community, the remembrance of God’s faithfulness will give us hope for His supply of grace in our times of need (I Thessalonians 5:24; Hebrews 4:14-16).
May the faithfulness of God motivate you and me to be all that God wants us to be in the days to come. Have a blessed New Year as you follow Christ.
With love & prayers, Mark
