A little over a year ago I wrote about God’s kindness. I missed a very important verse that I discovered today while writing about God’s action of rewarding those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). I was reading in Luke 6:35 about Jesus’ teaching about loving our enemies and the great reward for doing so, when I was struck by a powerful “He is” statement about our God:
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
As a son of God, He wants me to show loving kindness to the ungrateful and the evil just as He does! Lord, please help me to follow your example and rely on your help to do so, because I do not have the power to do this in myself. I can only love because you first loved me. Thank you! Amen!
