A man once complained to his pastor, “I don’t like your preaching! You are not the kind of preacher for which I prayed.” The pastor responded, “Well, then pray that I will be the kind of preacher that God wants me to be.” The man prayed and God answered by changing the preacher some and the man’s heart a lot. He often said after that, as he left church and shook the preachers hand, “It sure pays to pray for the preacher – what a blessing I received from the Word of God!”
Have you paused to pray for your Pastor today as he prepares to preach this coming Lord’s Day? And while you pray for him don’t forget to pray for yourself and the rest of the congregation to have hearts prepared and ready to receive the Word of God.
Revival fires begin in response to hearts that are yielded to God in prayer.
