Psalm 39 – God’s Perspective

A Psalm of David

To the chief Musician, even to Jeduthun

Introduction: Good music helps us remember God in our times of trail and difficulty. This Psalm helps David and others to see life from God’s perspective and to remain confident and prayerful that God will be merciful. God’s enduring mercy is the reason for giving thanks to God in music. Jeduthun was appointed by name for this purpose in I Chronicles 16:41, “And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever.”

1. An important resolve: (vs.1).

2. An unfortunate reaction (vs.2).

3. A proper perspective through meditation and prayer (vs.3-7).

4. A prayer for mercy while being chastened (vs.8-13).
