April Pastor’s Chat
Revelation 5:12 says that our LORD is worthy to receive wisdom. Once again we are faced with the truth that we must give something back to God that inherently comes from Him, for all true wisdom is God’s wisdom.
Every person has a God-given choice either to follow his own worldly wisdom or to receive God’s heavenly wisdom. One of the richest veins of God’s practical wisdom is in the book of Proverbs. Like nuggets of gold, the word wisdom occurs 54 times in the book. If you would do some serious prospecting by reading and meditating on each verse, you would be greatly blessed and challenged (references below).
The letter of James also gives us a striking contrast between God’s true wisdom and man’s false wisdom. James 3:14-17 says, “But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”
James 3:13 give us insight on how God can receive His wisdom back to Himself through our lives, “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation [behavior, lifestyle] his works with meekness of wisdom.” When we live our lives submitted to His wisdom, our deeds will bring glory to God. As we give Him praise for the blessings of wisdom, God will receive His wisdom back to Himself. Which wisdom are you following, your own or God’s? The choice is yours!
With prayer, Pastor Mark
